The Deutsche Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Phoniatrie und P\u00e4daudiologie (DGPP, German Society of Phoniatrics and Pediatric Audiology) has been founded in 1983, arising from the “Association of German Phoniatricians” (est. 1966). The Phoniatrics and Pediatric Audiology as a medical-scientific discipline has its roots in the ear-nose-throat medicine and, for many years, was a subdiscipline within this area. In 1992, by a decision of the Federal Medical Council, Phoniatrics and Pediatric Audiology has received an independent status as a medical discipline in Germany. This was confirmed by the decision of the “Deutscher \u00c4rztetag 2018” who adopted the new “Musterweiterbildungsordnung” with “Phoniatrics and Pedaudiology” – “Specialist in Language, Voice and Hearing loss in Children” as a medical discipline in Germany.
\nMeanwhile phoniatricians-pedaudiologists work in university departments, supraregional hospitals, private practices, social-pediatric centers and rehabilitation departments.<\/p>\n
